Douglas Bañez
Founder and Managing Director
Doug Bañez is Founder and Managing Director of Hubpoint Strategic Advisors, LLC. During his 30-year career, he has led engagements for aviation / transportation / logistics clients in the areas of business strategy, marketing, competitive positioning, and regulatory support. Doug is based in the United States, but his project experience extends beyond North America to Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
For the aviation community, Doug specializes in long-term demand forecasting, air cargo market assessments, and passenger and cargo air service development strategies. Doug is a veteran of industry-leading aviation and transportation consulting firms and applies best-practices learned over his career to Hubpoint’s client and partner engagements. Prior to founding Hubpoint, Doug was Vice President at InterVISTAS Consulting.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from Lafayette College and a Master of Business Administration with dual concentrations in Transportation/Logistics and Marketing from the University of Maryland – College Park.
Jesse Cohen
Jesse Cohen is an Executive Consultant with Hubpoint with more than 30 years of commercial leadership experience within the air cargo industry. Starting out in Houston’s freight forwarding industry, he later joined United Airlines Cargo in Chicago in a variety of roles including capacity management, pricing, international sales, planning, marketing, and freighters. Jesse served as United’s Managing Director – Cargo Pricing and Revenue Management, where he successfully developed and implemented pricing strategies, sales initiatives, business processes, and analytics to improve profitability.
After leaving United, he joined Etihad Cargo and later SilkWay West Airlines where he led the Americas commercial teams at both airlines and increased his exposure to the freighter side of the business. More recently, Jesse served as Market Expert – Air Cargo at FreightWaves, where he strengthened company’s data and media content.
Jesse has a Masters in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
Erik Kreh
Erik Kreh is a Senior Consultant with more than 30 years of experience in large-scale regional and infrastructure planning, including projects for airports, railroads, and transit systems. He has been responsible for multi-system strategic planning projects for the public, private, and institutional sectors. For these engagements, he has executed all key elements of work from primary research to project management.
Erik supports Hubpoint’s air cargo and airport practices with market research and analysis, including competitive assessments, demographic analysis and graphic design. His advanced data modelling skills are employed in Hubpoint’s forecasts and other analytic work.
Erik holds a Bachelor of Architecture, University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Matt Barton
Matt Barton is an Executive Consultant with Hubpoint and has spent over 20 years in the aviation industry at the intersection of finance, network planning, and labor dynamics. He has served as a financial advisor to creditors during airline bankruptcies, evaluated the business cases for airline mergers, and participated directly in the formation of startup airlines.
Matt’s airline planning experience encompasses cargo airlines, large passenger airlines, low-cost carriers, regional airlines, Part 135 operators, fractional business jet operators, and foreign airlines. Prior to these consulting roles, Matt worked in corporate planning functions at US Airways. Matt supports Hubpoint’s air service development practice where his varied experience provides unique insights for Hubpoint’s airport clients.
Matt earned a Master of Business Administration from London Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California.
Floris de Haan
Floris de Haan is an Executive Consultant with Hubpoint and has more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry focusing on commercial development of air cargo entities. His career began with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in Pricing & Revenue Management and he later worked for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. More recently, Floris headed the aviation practice at ORTEC Consulting, applying digital and data analytics methodologies in commercial and operational challenges for his clients.
He advises companies in Network Planning and Pricing & Revenue Management, including Air France - KLM, Schiphol Group The Netherlands, JFK International Airport, Garuda Indonesia Cargo, and FedEx. Floris also currently lectures on Air Transport Economics at Erasmus University (NL) and Cranfield University (UK) and his research and opinions are often cited in trade press.
Floris holds a Master of Science from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.
